Unable to uninstall Trend Micro I have followed the normal procedure to uninstall, but it says either I am in safe mode or that or that the Windows Installer has been installed incorrectly. All was preinstalled except Trend Micro. To resolve the issue: Manually remove the old Security Agent using the SA Uninstall Tool. Contact Trend Micro Technical Support for assistance is using the Uninstall Tool.; Reinstall the Security Agent. Windows XP
- Download the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
- Click Run when the File Download window appears. The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit window appears after the download finishes.
- Click the Uninstall tab, then click 1. Uninstall software. The Toolkit will automatically detect the Trend Micro program that is currently installed.
- Click Uninstall. After the program finishes uninstalling, you will then be asked to restart your computer.
- Click Yes
Windows Vista or Windows 7
- Click your Windows operating system version to download the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
- Click Run when the File Download window appears. The User Account Control window will appear.
- Click Yes. After the download finishes, the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit window appears.
- Click the Uninstall tab, then click 1. Uninstall software. The Toolkit will automatically detect the Trend Micro program that is currently installed.
- Click Uninstall.
- After the program finishes uninstalling, you will then be asked to restart your computer.
- Click Yes.

Procedure
- Log on to the client computer using an account with Administrator privileges.
- Right-click the OfficeScan client icon on the system tray and select Unload OfficeScan. If prompted for a password, specify the unload password then click OK.
Note
- For Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, switch to desktop mode to unload the OfficeScan client.
- Disable the password on computers where the OfficeScan client will be unloaded. For details, see Configuring Client Privileges and Other Settings.
- If the unload password was not specified, stop the following services from Microsoft Management Console:
- OfficeScan NT Firewall
- OfficeScan NT Proxy Service
Note
The OfficeScan NT Proxy Service does not exist on Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 platforms. - Trend Micro Unauthorized Change Prevention Service
- Remove the OfficeScan client shortcut from the Start menu.
- Switch to desktop mode.
- Move the mouse cursor to the bottom right corner of the screen and click Start from the menu that appears.
- Right-click Trend Micro OfficeScan.
- On all other Windows platforms:Click Start → Programs, right-click Trend Micro OfficeScan Client, and click Delete.
- Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
WARNING
The next steps require you to delete registry keys. Making incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems. Always make a backup copy before making any registry changes. For more information, refer to the Registry Editor Help. - Delete the following registry keys:
- If there are no other Trend Micro products installed on the computer:

- Trend Micro WFP Callout Driver (For Windows Vista/Server 2008/7 computers)
- Manually delete Trend Micro drivers using a command line editor (Windows 8/Server 2012 only) using the following commands:
- sc delete tmactmon
- sc delete tmfilter
- sc delete tmwfp
- sc delete tmeevw
- sc delete tmebc
Note
Run the command line editor using administrator privileges (for example, right-click cmd.exe and click Run as administrator) to ensure the commands execute successfully. - Uninstall the Common Firewall Driver.
- Right-click My Network Places and click Properties.
- Right-click Local Area Connection and click Properties.
- On the General tab, select Trend Micro Common Firewall Driver and click Uninstall.

The following steps only apply to Windows Vista/Server 2008/7/8/Server 2012 operating systems. Clients using all other operating systems skip to step 15. - Right-click Network and click Properties.
- Click Manage network connections.
- Right-click Local Area Connection and click Properties.
- On the Networking tab, select Trend Micro NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver and click Uninstall.
- Restart the client computer.
- If there are no other Trend Micro products installed on the computer, delete the Trend Micro installation folder (typically, C:Program FilesTrend Micro). For 64-bit computers, the installation folder can be found under C:Program Files (x86)Trend Micro.
- If there are other Trend Micro products installed, delete the following folders:
- The BM folder under the Trend Micro installation folder (typically, C:Program FilesTrend MicroBM for 32-bit systems and C:Program Files (x86)Trend MicroBM for 64-bit systems)
